Weser - Trees in Flood Zone

The river Weser occasionally experiences floods in Winter. When I was a child, those floods always were a big danger to the villages at its banks. Since then, there have been a lot of work put in to prevent the water from flowing through the streets and houses of those villages. One of those preventive measures was to allow the river more space in those areas, where no human settlements are in the way. All that is flooded there now, are some trees and meadows.
